Trim, Cap and Boolean Operations

Objective: Learn how to finish the arms and how to merge the metal with the prongs and the cutters.
Trim the Arms
Go to the front view, activate grid snap and draw a line about 2 mm from the top.
Select the curve and use the “Trim” command to cut the arms, selecting the lower part of the solid.
Cap and Fillet
In the “Solid” tab, use the “Cap” command to close the solid.
Then use “Fillet Edge” to round the arm edges with a radius of 1 mm and press Enter.
Cut with the Cutters
Now we’ll cut the solid on the left side using the cutters. Click on the “Boolean Difference” command.
- Select the solid and press Enter.
- Select the cutters and press Enter to apply the operation.
Hide the Curves
To hide every curve at once, type SelCrv in the command bar and then type hide.
Join the Prongs
Select the left part together with the prongs and join them with “Boolean Union”.
