12. Split the face and extract the 2 mm surface bands
Show the spherical surface and the curves, hide the ring. Split Face on the surface using all the curves as cutting lines, then Extract Surface (Copy = Yes) on the 2 mm bands between curves, and Offset Surface them with Both Sides = Yes at 0.4 mm.

13. Shape the shank with soft transform and boolean difference
With the Face Filter on, select the two reference faces and move them through the solid using Soft Transform for smooth deformation; repeat on the other side. Deactivate Soft Transform (run it with nothing selected) and clear the filters, then Boolean Difference the two solids below the shank with Delete Cutters = No, using the shank as cutter.

14. Extract and offset the cut solids to create final solid forms
Extract the surfaces from the two cut solids and delete the solids. Offset Surface the extractions — Flip if the arrows point outward — with Both Sides = No at 0.8 mm. These become the final orbital solids.

15. Convert the ring and cut the shank opening
Convert the SubD ring to NURBS with Delete Input = No (keep the editable copy) and hide the SubD. Boolean Difference the new shank with the orbital solids to cut the ring opening, moving the cut solids to another layer for clarity.
