Ruby:

  • Color: Red
  • Material: Rubies are made of the mineral corundum, which is colorless in its essence, but rubies get their red shade from chromium that grows into the mineral.
  • Mohs hardness scale: 9 out of 10
  • Past symbolism: Legends claim a ruby would shine through even the thickest clothing and could not be hidden. Rubies have always been associated with love, especially faithful passionate commitment and closeness
  • Energy: Rubies promote a clear mind, increased concentration and motivation, and bring a sense of power to the wearer, a self-confidence that propels one toward prosperity and achievement.

Emerald:

    • Color: Green
    • Material: Emeralds are a variety of the mineral beryl. Even though pure beryl is colorless, emeralds get their green shade from traces of chromium.
    • Mohs hardness scale: 8 out 10
This makes the emerald the most fragile precious stone, and thus the most difficult one to mount into jewelry as it may break during the process.
    • History Overview: In Greek mythology, high-ranking military officials carried emeralds because of their spiritual powers and strongly believed this gemstone added more wisdom to their lives.
    • Energy: inspiration, balance, wisdom, and patience. Promotes: friendship, peace, harmony,. It opens the heart chakra to bestow the wearer with both giving and receiving g of unconditional love.

Sapphire:

  • Color: Blue
  • Material: Just like Rubies, Sapphires are made of the mineral corundum. While sapphires come in a range of colors, the classic deep blue sapphire gets its color from trace amounts of titanium and iron.
If it wasn’t for these materials that give the stone its characteristic color, sapphires would be the same color as rubies and emeralds: transparent!
  • Mohs hardness scale: 9 out of 10
  • History Overview: According to Hebrew lore, King Solomon of Israel wore a sapphire ring as a talisman and the law given to Moses on the mountain was said to be engraved on tablets of sapphire.
  • Energy: The stone of focus and mental calmness, serenity. It is claimed to be useful in encouraging faithfulness and loyalty.

Did you know?
All colored gemstones are graded using four basic parameters known as “the 4 C’s”:
Color
Clarity
Cut
Carat weight.

The 4 C’s aid traders in evaluating the adequate price for the stone at hand.
