GemOrientationApi

Gem plane orientation fixes. Rotating a gem in place is GemToolsApi.RotateGems / IGem.Rotate; turning the stone over is IGem.Flip. This facade covers the remaining command, ArtisanGemsFlipPlane, which touches only the gem’s stored plane.

from ArtisanPlugin.Scripting import GemOrientationApi

See also the Python package, ra.gem_orientation.

Methods

Method
FlipPlaneThe ArtisanGemsFlipPlane command, headless: flips the parametric plane stored in each gem (its Z axis is reversed) WITHOUT moving the stone’s geometry.

FlipPlane

int GemOrientationApi.FlipPlane(IEnumerable<Guid> gemIds = null)

The ArtisanGemsFlipPlane command, headless: flips the parametric plane stored in each gem (its Z axis is reversed) WITHOUT moving the stone’s geometry. Use it when a gem’s settings (prongs, baskets, cutters…) come out upside down: after the flip they regenerate on the other side. gemIds null/empty = the selected gems (the command requires an explicit selection). Returns the number of gems whose plane was flipped.

ParameterTypeDefault
gemIdsIEnumerable<Guid>null

Returns int.
