RhinoArtisan 6.8 focuses on practical improvements that save time in daily jewelry production. This release introduces new tools for standardizing imported models, estimating ring sizes, creating more flexible gemstone reports, and improving consistency across design workflows. It also includes performance enhancements, usability updates, and numerous bug fixes.

New Commands for Faster Production Workflows

One of the most significant additions in RhinoArtisan 6.8 is Default Settings. Users can now define preferred parameter values across RhinoArtisan commands, reducing repetitive setup and helping teams maintain consistent design standards.

The new Standardize Command addresses a common challenge in jewelry CAD: working with files created in other systems. Standardize converts jewelry models from external CAD platforms into RhinoArtisan editable geometry, making imported designs easier to modify and continue developing.

Another highly requested addition is Estimate Size, which automatically estimates ring size from existing ring models. This works not only with native geometry but also with imported STL files and models originating from other CAD systems.

More Flexible Gemstone Reporting

Gemstone reporting has been expanded significantly in version 6.8.

New commands include:

  • Gems Map by Selection — Generate gemstone maps only for selected stones.
  • Gems List by Selection — Create gemstone lists from selected gems.
  • Gems List by Groups — Generate organized gemstone lists from multiple selected gem groups.
  • Gems List by Selection to Excel Report — Export selected gemstone lists directly to Excel.
  • Gems List by Groups to Excel Report — Export grouped gemstone reports for purchasing, production, and inventory management.

These additions provide greater control when working with large assemblies that contain multiple gemstone types or production stages.

For example, a manufacturer producing a halo engagement ring and matching earrings can now select only the stones required for a specific production batch and generate an Excel report without including every gemstone in the project. This simplifies communication between design, purchasing, and production teams.

Workflow and Design Improvements

Version 6.8 also introduces several enhancements throughout the application.

Key improvements include:

  • Significant performance improvements across multiple workflows.
  • Customizable layer colors.
  • A refreshed icon set with a modernized visual style.
  • New option in Cluster and Halo to enforce even stone counts.
  • Support for Natural and Reverse orientation modes in Classic settings.
  • Improved Basket Cap Bump functionality.
  • Added Pear shape support in Halo.

These updates improve both design flexibility and day-to-day usability.

The new even-stone-count option is particularly useful for designers creating symmetrical cluster and halo arrangements where manufacturing requirements or design aesthetics call for balanced stone layouts.

Stability and Reliability

Alongside new functionality, RhinoArtisan 6.8 resolves multiple issues reported by users.

As with every release, improving stability remains a priority. These fixes help ensure a smoother experience across modeling, stone setting, reporting, and production workflows.
